The Solar Stream LJ-10 and LJ-20 pumps are a new type of solar water pump that meets many water delivery needs. As they need only 12 to 24 Wp of photovoltaic modules to operate, are low in cost and are highly reliable, they bring solar water pumping to a new class of applications. The LJ-10 can pump up to a 30 foot head and deliver up to 30 gallons per hour. It runs on just one 12Wp solar module.  The LJ-20 can pump up to a  50 foot of head and deliver up to 40 gallons per hour. It runs from two 12Wp solar modules.
	Operation These pumps have only one main moving part – a free piston. Electricity from sunlight (from the PV module) charges a capacitor. When the capacitor voltage reaches a fixed level (about 16V for the LJ-10 and 32V for the LJ-20), an electronic switch feeds the capacitor energy into the pump coil which drives the piston, creating a pulse of water.  The more sunlight, the more pulses of water are delivered each second.

Limitations ·       Use only with fresh water – salt or brackish water will corrode the piston (we are working on a corrosion-proof piston – please contact Solar Stream for more information). ·       Don’t let the pump run dry for extended periods – it will wear the piston and cylinder. ·       Do not run from batteries or with solar panels of greater wattage than specified.
